Library of Zhejiang University of Technology
Library of Zhejiang University of Technology was founded in June 1953. After decades of development, Library of ZJUT has become a modern, open and cultivated university library with abundant collections and distinct features, consistently adjusting to the university development targets. Library of ZJUT has a building area of 65,000 square meters and over 6500 seats, including 9705.25 square meters in Zhaohui Campus, 36044.97 square meters in Pingfeng Campus and 19882 square meters in Moganshan Campus. In Pingfeng and Moganshan Campus where the Library was founded in 2006 and 2020 respectively, students, teachers and scholars indulge themselves in reading that they forget to leave, due to the elegant building, comfortable ambience, advanced facilities and abundant collections.
The resources in the library of ZJUT include printed books, e-books, periodicals, dissertations and theses, etc. The library has 68 databases, including 25 Chinese databases and 43 foreign databases. The major collections in the library include professional literatures in Chinese and other foreign languages covering many disciplines, among which, collections of Chemical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Economy & Trade Management are the richest. Furthermore, Library of ZJUT has introduced world-renowned databases and literature retrieval systems, thus forming the security system of multi-lingual literature and information resources covering all disciplines of ZJUT.
With the philosophy of “Person-oriented and Reader First”, Library of ZJUT always regards readers’ needs as the development engine and makes efforts to provide all-round and high-quality services. The Library has realized open management mode in collecting, borrowing and reading of printed literature resources and is open for 98 hours per week, while digital literature resources are available on campus network 24 hours. Also, it began to offer services on mobile devices in 2012 and through micro blogging and Wechat in 2013, thus the platform for publicity and promotion has been improved comprehensively. According to the needs of disciplinary development, teaching and scientific research, as well as the needs of teachers and students for literature information, we have carried out various types of services. Lectures on how to use the library are provided for undergraduate students, trainings on literature database retrieval and utilization are carried out for teachers and students. We also provide services like interlending and document delivery, science and technology novelty searching, SDI service, online consulting, citation proof of academic papers and academic misconduct detection. The Ministry of Education of science and technology novelty search station qualification was formally approved in 2014, It has greatly enhanced the disciplinary service ability of ZJUT, and plays a supporting role in the University disciplinary development and teaching and research. In October 2019, the Intellectual Property Information Service Center of Zhejiang University of Technology was established, which offers intellectual property services to universities, government agencies, enterprises, and research institutes in Zhejiang Province and the Yangtze River Delta region. In August 2020, the Center was officially approved to be the preparatory organization for the World Intellectual Property Group (WIPO) Technology and Innovation Support Center in China (TISC), the only preparatory organization for universities in Zhejiang Province. In October 2021, Zhejiang University of Technology was officially approved as the fourth batch of "Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC)".
Library of ZJUT has 13 administrative or service divisions, namely Pingfeng Administration Office, Comprehensive Service Department, Moganshan Administration Office, Development and Plan Department, Readers Service of Zhaohui Campus, Readers Service of Pingfeng Campus, Readers Service of Moganshan, Literature Resources Construction Department, Systems Technology Department, sci-tech novelty retrieval report, Information Consulting Service, Cataloguing Department, and Books & Textbooks Center. Literature resources on all three campuses are under unified collecting, editing and allocating, while digital literature resources are co-constructed and shared. The management mode of “central and regional systems combination” has been realized across campuses libraries.
Library of ZJUT is not only a standing board member of Zhejiang Library Society and Zhejiang Society for Scientific & Technical Information, but also a deputy director unit of Library & Information Committee of Zhejiang Universities & Colleges. In the meantime, the quarterly magazine Library & Information of Zhejiang Universities & Colleges is edited and published by the library.
Under the leadership of the University Party Committee and the administration, the library constantly innovates in resource construction, service mode and management & operation mechanism, so as to enrich the literature resources, improve the infrastructure and the service quality. Now, Library of ZJUT is working hard for the building of an intelligent openminded andcultivated university library with rich collection, distinctive features, high quality service, always adapting to the university development targets.
