1. Readers should swipe their valid campus card to get into the library; external staff should register at the library gate with a letter of introduction or their valid identification documents (student card, work permit or ID card) and contact the office to enter the library.
2. Keep quiet in the library. Don’t speak loudly or read aloud. Please adjust the phone to vibrate after entering the library. Please go outside for phone calls.
3. The library is a key fire prevention unit. Smoking and using fire are strictly forbidden in any part of the library.
4. Take care of the public property in the library. Please do not smear or deface it; do not post or distribute advertisements and other promotional materials inside of building without permission; do not take pictures or video without approval.
5. Keep the hall clean and hygienic. Do not spit or litter waste; do not bring any food or beverage into reading areas; do not bring rain gear into the library on rainy days.
6. Maintain order in the library. Do not occupy seats, and do not occupy the lockers overnight. Do not move any equipment such as tables, chairs, computers, etc. at will.
7. Be a civilized reader with clothes clean and neat. Do not wear vests, sports shorts or slippers.
8. If access control system alarm, please take the initiative to cooperate with security or staff to ascertain the situation.
9. Abide by the rules and regulations of the library consciously, and cooperate with and support the library staff to act according to the rules and regulations.
10. For those who violate the above regulations, library will issue warnings, suspend their borrowing service, and inform relative college according to the seriousness of the circumstances.

Ⅰ Issuance and Management of Library Cards
1. The opening of the campus card’s book-borrowing permission
The readers who use the library resources in the library should hold the campus card issued by the school management center of campus card and open the permission of borrowing books from the campus card before using it.
New undergraduate students through national ordinary college enrollment (including students in adult education classes) must study the "How to Use the Library" course and complete the online test in the "New Student Column" (http://xszl.lib.zjut.edu.cn /), and open the permission collectively by class;
2. Loss and reissue of campus card’s book-borrowing permission
(1) If the campus card is lost, please go to the school management center of campus card to report the loss and reissue in time; or report the loss of the campus card borrowing permission after logging in on the library homepage; or use the valid identification documents to report the loss of borrowing rights in the library hall. Otherwise, the card owner shall be responsible for the loss of the property of the book.
(2) After the replacement, the new campus card doesn’t need re-opening of book-borrowing permission. The borrowing record of the original campus card would be automatically transferred to the new campus card.
(3) If the original campus card is retrieved, the student card, the loss of the borrowing permission could be canceled with the student card, work permit or other valid documents in the library lending hall.
3. Logout of campus card’s book-borrowing permission
When a student withdraws from school due to transfer, dropout, graduation, or other reasons, he/she must return all the books, pay off the borrowing fees, and cancel the permission of book-borrowing of the campus card.
Ⅱ Book-Borrowing
1. Readers must use their own campus card to borrow books from the library. The library has the right to deduct the student’s campus card used for borrowing books or periodicals by someone else and the card will return only with student’s own valid identity card.
2. Book Borrowing and Returning Area: Borrowing Hall on the second floor of Zhaohui Campus Library; Borrowing Hall on the first floor of Pingfeng Campus Library.
3. Books that are allowed to be borrowed: books from the first to fourth floors of the main stack rooms of the Zhaohui Campus Library; books from the first to third floors of the Pingfeng Campus Library.
4. Books that are not allowed to be borrowed: books, periodicals and newspapers stored in comprehensive reading rooms, newspaper reading rooms, current and back periodical reading rooms.
5. Number of books borrowed: 20 for undergraduates
6. Allowed loan period and renewal: the loan period is 40 days for undergraduate students and other readers. Overdue books are paid for overdue usage fees per book per day (refer to “Measures for Overdue, Defacement, Loss and Violation of Library Borrowing Books in ZJUT”). For renewing books, apply for the renewal of the books before the deadline by coming to the library or logging on the library website and entering the “My Library” column before the book is overdue. The renewal is limited to one time and to one book every renewal period. If the borrowed books have been reserved, it will not be renewable.
7. When borrowing a book, please inspect the book on spot and the following cases should be reported immediately to the library staff who will then stamp the stained seal on: the book is dirty or defective; the content is inconsistent with the title of the book, etc. Otherwise, if any defiling or damage is found when returning the book, the borrower should be responsible for the compensation.
8. Readers shall not take the books out of the room without going through the borrowing procedures, which will be dealt as theft.
9. If the paper books cannot meet the needs, readers can refer to the Chinese and foreign e-books in the “Digital Resources – E-books” section of the homepage of the library; or download for reading in the “Digital Resources – Multimedia Digital Resources – CD-ROM with the book”.
10. When the collection resources of the library cannot meet the needs of the readers, readers could obtain the full text through Library Information Consultation Department by conducting inter-library borrowing or document transfer.
Ⅲ Book-Returning
1. The borrowed books should be returned as scheduled. In case of failure to return the books on time, the permission of borrowing books will be suspended and the overdue usage fees shall be paid (refer to the “Measures for Overdue, Defacement, Loss and Violation of Library Borrowing Books in ZJUT”).
2. The defacement of returned books and the loss of the borrowed books shall be dealt with according to the “Measures for Overdue, Defacement, Loss and Violation of Library Borrowing Books in ZJUT”.
3. Readers can return borrowed books to the library at the Zhaohui Campus or Pingfeng Campus.

Measures for Overdue, Defacement, Loss and Violation of Library Borrowing Books in ZJUT
In order to protect the books and periodicals of the library and safeguard the rights and interests of teachers and students, Library has formulated these measures for the overdue, defacement, loss and other violations of the collections.
Ⅰ Overdue
In order to guarantee rights and interests of most readers, readers who fail to return the books before the prescribed deadline shall pay the overdue usage fee based on following regulations:
1. Overdue fee of 0.1 yuan per day for each borrowed book which exceeds the deadline.
2. Books and periodicals only for reading in reading rooms are allowed for copying after finishing formalities and filling out copying documents. The book shall be returned on the same day, and the overdue fee will be charged for 2.00 yuan per half day after the first half day.
3. If the returning deadline is within the winter and summer vacation, the book is allowed to return within 10 days after the beginning of school term without overdue fee (refer to the annual winter and summer vacation notice for specific dates); after 10 days, over 10 days, the overdue fee is calculated together with that of the holiday.
4. Readers can choose to follow and bind the official WeChat account of school library, and log in to the Mobile Library of ZJUT, or log in to the "My Library" on the webpage to notice the book borrowing and overdue situation in time.
Ⅱ Defaced and Damaged Books and Periodicals
The defaced and damaged books and periodicals shall be compensated according to the degree of their defacement and damage, and seriously-defaced or damaged books and periodicals that cannot be used again would be dealt with as lost ones.
1. Defaced books and periodicals: Books and periodicals due to the contamination of liquid or solid substances start to have foreign colors, odors, wrinkles, deformations, etc., and compensation is as follows:
(1) Books and periodicals soaked in clean water, without wrinkles or deformation of the books after drying, the dyed part compensated by 1.00 yuan/page compensation.
(2) Books and periodicals polluted, but stains, odors and wrinkles can be removed and covered after treatment, and the font and image are not affected, the stained portion compensated by 2.00 yuan/page.
(3) Books and periodicals that are polluted in other forms are dealt with as lost ones.
2. Damaged books and periodicals: during the period of use, books are drawn with circles and points, written with comments, scribbled, dog-eared, bended, torn, separated into pages, cracked in ridges, broken in seals, or cut etc. are compensated as follows:
(1) If books appear to be drawn with circles and points, written with comments, scribbled, dog-eared, bended, but can be eliminated, covered, bonded without affecting the original font and images, the damage is compensated by 1.00 yuan/page.
(2) If books appear to be separated into pages, cracked in ridges, broken in seals, its compensation fee should be the actual repairing cost.
(3) For the above damage cannot be restored to the original affecting the use of readers, compensation shall be made as lost books.
(4) If the computer barcode is torn or defaced, it shall be compensated by 5.00 yuan/item.
Ⅲ Loss and Compensation
Any lost books and periodicals shall be repaid within one month with same International Standard Book Number (ISBN), and the document processing fee of 5 yuan shall be paid; if lost books and periodicals with same ISBN are unable to obtain, compensation shall be made according to following standards (newspapers and periodicals handled as multi-volume books):
1. Chinese books published before 1990 (including 1990) shall be compensated by 20 times of the original price, and for books whose original price less than 20 yuan, the compensation shall be 20 yuan; Chinese books published during 1990 and 2000 (including 2000) shall be compensated by 10 times of the original price; Chinese papers published after 2000 shall be compensated by 5 times of the original price.
2. Original foreign language books shall be compensated by 3 times of the original price. Foreign photocopied books shall be compensated same as Chinese books published after 2000.
3. Loss of one or several volumes of a set of multi-volume books, supporting reference books, newspapers and periodicals shall be compensated for the full set at the original price.
4. After the loss of books and periodicals, the formalities of compensation should be completed in a timely manner. If the lost books and periodicals are overdue, the overdue fee shall also be paid.
5. If the lost books and periodicals are retrieved within one month after the payment, the refund could be handled with the valid campus card, the original book and the receipt of payment. No refund is allowed after one month.
Ⅳ Book Stealing and Damaging
1. Taking books and periodicals out of the management area without going through the borrowing procedures are dealt as theft. The permission to borrow books will be suspended for one to three months depending on the seriousness of the case. The offenders shall be ordered to write a self-criticism and filed for future reference. If serious, the case shall be reported to his/her unit as well as school Security Office.
2. Concealing any documents, attachments, etc. without returning, or removing magnetic materials at will or cutting books shall be dealt as theft.
